Growing up in America, I always had to adhere to a different set of rules than others. My parents came to this country seeking a better life for us, but they did it without applying for legal status. When I was a child, it did not seem like a big deal. However, that changed when I graduated from high school. I started researching my legal options and found out many others were in the same boat. Thanks to the help of an attorney, I was able to become a citizen. Many others are still stuck in limbo.
